Preach the Word: Staying True in a Changing World

The truth shall always remain the truth. The world will try to tempt you, pull you away from God’s purpose, and silence the light within you. When the enemy sees that God has placed something special in you — something meant to serve God’s Kingdom — he will do everything possible to destroy it before it grows.
Truth is unchanging. It does not depend on opinions, trends, or the shifting values of the world. Even as everything around us changes, truth remains the same. The world creates pressure and temptation. There are constant influences trying to distract us and pull us away from God’s purpose. Staying faithful is not easy, because there is a real and ongoing struggle between truth and compromise.
Yet, each person carries something valuable within them. Your life has purpose. God has placed something meaningful inside you — gifts, faith, and a calling meant to glorify Him. You are not random, and you are not forgotten. Your purpose is connected to God. Your life is not just about yourself, but about being part of something greater — His work and His Kingdom.
Because of this, there is opposition to that purpose. The struggles you face are not always random. In Scripture, the “enemy” refers to the spiritual adversary — the one who opposes God’s truth and seeks to distract, discourage, and destroy what God has placed within you. The “something special” within you is the calling, faith, and purpose God has entrusted to your life.
There is resistance when something truly matters. Your challenges may carry spiritual significance, not to defeat you, but to test and strengthen your faith.
You carry something valuable from God. The world will try to distract you from it, and there is opposition against it — but truth remains, and your purpose matters.
In a world that constantly pulls us in different directions, Scripture reminds us where our devotion must remain:
Deuteronomy 6:13–18 (NIV 1984)
13 Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.
14 Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you;
15 for the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land.
16 Do not test the LORD your God as you did at Massah.
17 Be sure to keep the commands of the LORD your God and the stipulations and decrees he has given you.
18 Do what is right and good in the LORD’s sight, so that it may go well with you and you may go in and take over the good land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers,
But staying faithful is not only about discipline — it is about identity. The Bible reminds us who we truly are in God’s eyes:

6 For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
7 The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.
8 But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your forefathers that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.
10 But those who hate him he will repay to their face by destruction; he will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate him.

In a world where faith is often tested, and truth is easily twisted, I’ve found my greatest joy in returning fully to the arms of my Lord and Savior. This journey was not easy—it was a real battle between light and darkness. Coming from a background where deception had taken root was not simple to overcome. Only Christ Jesus could make that possible. He fought for me, broke every chain, and set me free so I could follow Him completely, just as I did before.
When I speak of ‘the world,’ I don’t mean creation itself, but the way of life that goes against God — a mindset that seeks pleasure, power, and human approval instead of truth. Sometimes, this influence shows up through people around us — those driven by pride, deception, or rebellion, especially when their hearts are not aligned with God.
At times, these influences even come from those close to us — family, friends, or respected voices — who may not be walking in God’s truth. That doesn’t mean they are ‘the world’ themselves, but they can be used by the enemy or guided by worldly thinking to distract or discourage us from following Christ fully.
They might not even realize they are being used to discourage you or make you doubt your calling. But remember this:
“The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.” — Deuteronomy 7:7
When you belong to God, no one can erase what He has written over your life.
God created the world with deep love, and He was pleased with what He made. Creation itself is not the problem. Yet, much of the pain, confusion, and suffering we experience often comes from the actions and choices of people. Over time, what we call “the world” is not just the earth God created, but the influence of human behavior that moves away from His truth. The world itself is not broken by design, but it is affected by those who turn away from God’s ways. In this sense, the problem is not creation, but the condition of the human heart that shapes what the world becomes.
The world may try to finish you, but God will finish what He started in you. The world may want to see you fall, but God will lift you higher for His glory — not the way the world lifts people up, but in His own divine way, humble and purposeful, for His glory and not for show or pride. So, stand firm. Stay rooted in the truth. For no matter how dark it gets, the truth will always outshine the lies — and the light will always win.
When Paul said, ‘Preach the Word,’ he was calling believers to bring the light of truth into a dark and deceived world. For how can light remain silent when darkness surrounds it? Indeed, we were never created to live in darkness. Many fear the dark because the human heart was designed for light — for truth, for righteousness, and for the presence of God that exposes every hidden thing.
This fear of darkness is not without reason. Even in a natural sense, darkness represents the unknown — we can’t see what’s around us, and that uncertainty creates tension and fear. From childhood to adulthood, darkness often symbolizes danger, confusion, and isolation.
Spiritually, this truth goes even deeper. The Bible often uses darkness as a symbol of sin, deception, and separation from God. People fear darkness not just because it hides things, but because it represents distance from truth, peace, and God’s presence. Deep down, every soul longs for the light — because we were created by the God of light, who said, “Let there be light.” (Genesis 1:3)
We must never give any power to darkness in any form or way. In fact, we are called to do the opposite — to ensure that light stands above darkness. We are called to expose darkness and affirm that light is greater, and that it is meant for us to live in.
What “darkness” means here
In Scripture and in reflection, darkness doesn’t simply mean “night” or “the absence of light.” It symbolizes:
- Sin
- Deception
- Confusion
- Separation from God
- Spiritual blindness
So when it is said that many fear the dark or that we were not created to live in darkness, it expresses a spiritual truth:
We were never meant to live separated from God or trapped in lies — we were created to live in His truth, presence, and righteousness (the light).
What “light” represents
Light represents:
- Truth
- God’s presence
- Righteousness
- Peace
- Clarity
- Freedom in Christ
To say “we were created for light” means that we were made to live close to God — walking in His truth and free from deception.
The point of this message
The purpose of this reflection is to show why the Word of God matters so deeply.
Because the world is full of darkness — confusion, sin, and deception — only the Word, which is light, can set people free.
This does not give darkness any power; it simply acknowledges its presence while declaring that light wins.
It reminds us that:
“Yes, darkness exists — but it has no authority over those who walk in the light of Christ.”
There were moments when the enemy tried to block my path and keep me blind to the truth, using those around me to cause confusion and delay. But when God has chosen you for His purpose, no one—not even those who oppose you—can stop His plan. When the time is right, He makes everything clear, and His will always prevails.
Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” — John 10:27–29 (NIV 1984)
I love this passage because no matter what the devil and his people try to do, they cannot destroy what God has chosen. You may lose your way for a time, but when you belong to Him, the living and true God will always come to your rescue. He will set you free and bring you back, so you can continue the work He has called you to do.
This truth reminds me why it’s so important to stay rooted in God’s Word, especially today, when many follow teachings that only please the ears but not the heart.
2 Timothy 4:3-7 is a passage from the New Testament of the Bible. In this passage, the apostle Paul is writing a letter to Timothy, advising and encouraging him in his ministry.

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
This passage warns about the future and the challenges that Timothy and other believers might face. Paul cautions Timothy that there will be a time when people will prefer teachings that align with their own desires rather than embracing true, solid teachings. They will seek out teachers who will tell them what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear from the truth of God’s word.
And this is true. It reminds us that the Bible is real and that God’s Word will always come to pass. We can see it happening before our very eyes—many who call themselves Christians are now following a false gospel that simply pleases their ears. This passage warns us about such times. Paul reminded Timothy that a day would come when people would no longer accept sound teaching. Instead, they would look for voices that tell them what they want to hear, not what they need to hear from the truth of God’s Word.
What Does ‘Preach the Word’ Truly Mean for Us Today?
The call to “preach the word” in 2 Timothy 4:2 goes beyond the pulpit. It is not directed only to pastors or church leaders, but to every believer who walks with Christ. Whether we share the gospel through words, actions, art, writing, music, or simple acts of kindness, we are all called to reflect God’s truth and love in our daily lives.
This passage goes beyond preaching from a pulpit. While Paul was speaking directly to Timothy—a young pastor and evangelist—the message applies to every believer who follows Christ and serves in any form of ministry.
“Preach the Word” doesn’t only mean standing on a stage with a microphone. It means living and sharing God’s truth wherever you are. It means being faithful, teaching through your actions, encouraging others, and standing for what is right even when it’s not popular.
So yes—this passage is a call for pastors, teachers, and all believers. Whether you’re leading a church, serving others quietly, writing, singing, creating art, or simply walking faithfully in your daily life, you are still carrying out a ministry.
Paul’s message reminds us to stay alert, endure hardship, and remain faithful to our calling. It’s a reminder that each of us has a role in spreading truth and light in a world full of deception.

A Final Word of Truth and Hope
Time is changing day by day. I have been in many churches since accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior, and one thing has become clear: there was a time when people loved preachers who spoke the truth, but today many run away from them. At first, this used to astonish me. But the more I read my Bible, the less surprised I become — because God’s Word must come to pass. His will must be fulfilled. There is no need to wonder why anymore; it is simply the reality of spiritual matters.
Those who do not read their Bibles will always be shocked by what is happening in the world and even in the church. But Scripture opens our eyes. And by their fruits, we recognize those who are not doing the work of God the way it should be done. So, it’s not that I am just learning these things now — I am seeing the reality of what the Bible has been telling us all along.

Even in persecution, imprisonment, rejection, and suffering, he never changed his message. His life shows the transforming power of God, for he went from fighting believers to becoming one of God’s greatest instruments. He understood spiritual realities clearly and fought to keep the Gospel pure. His courage and devotion inspire me, and in many ways, Paul has become a role model to me — an example of faith, strength, and unwavering obedience to Christ.
